NEW!! Mobile Workshop I (full day):  "The Ponderosa Story:  Realizing a Vision" (All participants must attend the Saturday evening presentation.)

Learn about farm-ranch recreation, its potential in Oregon and new initiatives in agri-tourism.  This mobile workshop will help you find out first-hand about the hugely successful Ponderosa Guest Ranch and how this operation, located in rural Grant County, attracts visitors from around the globe.  Hear about the power of cross-marketing and its importance to Oregon's tourism industry in an informative, interactive session aboard the luxurious motorcoach provided by Amtrak.  Participants will depart from the Holiday Inn where a complimentary continental breakfast will be served.  Featured speakers include Izzy Oren, proprietor of the Ponderosa Guest Ranch, and Mandy Cole, Oregon Tourism Commission; plus the trip includes a visit to the Kam Wah Chung and Company Museum in John Day and video presentations on Harney County and Grant County's "Journey Through Time" scenic byway. Pre-registration and $30 fee required.  Box lunch at the Ponderosa Guest Ranch is included.

NEW!! Mobile Workshop II (full day):  "Trail to the Past:  Oregon's Jordan Valley" (All participants must attend the Saturday evening presentation.)

Learn about developing heritage tourism at the grass-roots level, and how to be successful in rural locales.  Discover how Eastern Oregon is embracing the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial, and how the Jordan Valley ties in with its refurbished gravesite of Sacagawea's son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau.  Hear about the power of cross-marketing and its importance to Oregon's tourism industry in an informative, interactive session aboard the motorcoach.  Participants will depart from the Holiday Inn where a complimentary continental breakfast will be served.  Guest speakers include Carl Wilgus, Idaho Division of Tourism Development; Roger Rocka, Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Association; and Malheur County history experts.  Rose Ann Abrahamson, a direct descendant of Sacagawea, will help dedicate a special plaque.  Pre-registration and $30 fee required.  Basque lunch in Jordan Valley is included.

NEW!! Mobile Workshop III (half day):  "Vale -- The Can-Do Community"

This half-day workshop will give you the opportunity to view the culture and progress of the early settlers as depicted on 24 murals created by professional artists located throughout the historic town of Vale.  Learn what it takes to accomplish such a project and how the community has come together for many other projects, enhancing the quality of life for this small town and its visitors.  Walk in the Oregon Trail ruts at Keeney Pass, view the grassy plains traveled by the pioneers, and visit the oldest structure in northern Malheur County, the 1872 Rinehart Stone House Museum.  Pre-registration and $15 fee required.
