The idea is to find out a little
bit about us before you get here. To help you do this, we have
developed a quiz. The answers are easily found in the website of
the highlighted county. We will change the questions every so
often so be sure to check back. The first person to
correctly answer the question will win a prize!
Well, it's almost
time! Are you getting excited?? I just heard that "The
Ponderosa Story" mobile
workshop is completely full! If you haven't signed up for a
workshop, be sure to check out "The Trail to the Past"
workshop and sign up. You won't be sorry!
Okay, hang on! The
last county to be
highlighted in our little contest is, of course, Malheur County. Follow this link to the
website for the Ontario
Chamber of Commerce and check out
the site. While you're doing that, you should be able to discover
the answer to the question.
Didja
ever wonder where they came up with the name "Malheur?"
'Have to tell you that it took me two years (at least) after I moved
here to learn how to SPELL it, so of course I was curious about the
origin of the name. And while we're at it, the Basques have this
very interesting game they like to play. So, here are your
questions (we have to keep up with the other counties, now):
Why was the "Malheur
River" so named?
What is the name of the
game the Basques have played since settling in Malheur County?
E-mail your answer to the
Chamber at ontvb@micron.net
or give them a call at 888-889-8012 and win a prize!
Remember the prize is for the first person who correctly answers
the question. You will be notified by return email if you are the winner.
It's almost time!
See you at the conference!
